Local Pasco County & Port Richey Resources:

Food and Water:

  • Distribution Center: Salvation Army at Waterfront Park 8119 Old Post Port Richey, FL 34668 September 30th - October 2nd from 2pm - 4pm 500 hot meals for people to come pick up. If anyone wants to pick up meals and deliver them in the community they can do that. You can also just stop by and pick up a meal for yourself and family and friends.

  • Pasco County is opening two locations on the west side of the county to provide food and water to Hurricane Helene victims. These two Points of Distribution (PODs) locations will ensure anyone displaced by the storm will have access to essential supplies. Both sites will be open to drive-in customers Saturday, September 28, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., while supplies last:

• Hudson Library Parking Lot | 8012 Library Rd, Hudson, FL

• J. Ben Harrill Recreation Complex Parking Lot | 2830 Gulf Trace BIvd, Holiday, FL

Travel Trailer Assistance:

The State of Florida also announced that it is mobilizing hundreds of travel trailers for residents whose homes were damaged by the storm so they can live comfortably on-site while renovations and repairs are underway. To apply for a travel trailer through @FLSERT, call the HOPE LINE at 1-833-GET-HOPE. Units are limited.

Before You Apply:

  • Take photos of your damaged home and belongings for your own records.

  • Make a list of damaged/lost items, which may be helpful when working with your insurance or discussing your losses with a FEMA inspector.

  • If you have insurance (such as flood, homeowners, renters, auto or other types of insurance), please file a claim with your insurance provider as soon as possible. You do not have to file your claim prior to applying for FEMA disaster assistance, but you will be required to provide FEMA your insurance settlement or denial before being considered for certain types of assistance.

  • If you need to search for shelters near you, text SHELTER and your zip code to 43362.

  • For immediate needs, check with your local emergency management officials, voluntary agencies or call local 2-1-1.

Our disaster assistance partners can provide help with immediate needs FEMA is not authorized to provide.

  • Emergency Medical Assistance: Please dial 9-1-1.

  • Emergency Shelter: Locate options by zip code by visiting the American Red Cross, or Salvation Army, or by texting SHELTER and your zip code (for example, “SHELTER 01234”) to 4FEMA (43362). For Spanish text REFUGIO and your zip code. (Standard text message rates apply.)  You can also download the FEMA Mobile App to find open shelters.

  • Immediate Needs: Check with your local emergency management officials, voluntary agencies or be calling your local 2-1-1. The FEMA Helpline (800-621-3362) may be able to provide additional referrals. If you use video relay service (VRS), captioned telephone service or others, give FEMA your number for that service.

Help for Individuals and Households:

FEMA’s Individuals and Households Program (IHP) provides financial assistance and direct services to eligible individuals and households affected by a disaster, who have uninsured or underinsured necessary expenses and serious needs.


Next Steps After Applying for Assistance

You will receive notification letters from FEMA either by U.S. mail or by electronic correspondence. FEMA may contact you about needing to verify information or completing a home inspection.
